This is a set of eight pieces of sheet music arranged for harp and voice, printed on ivory paper with a heavy parchment jacket cover. Five of the songs include both the original Gaelic words and an accurate and very singable English translation; the other three are in English. Each piece includes words, melody, chords, and a full arrangement for the lever harp. Level: easy to intermediate.

Each of these three pieces of sheet music includes settings of two Psalms in lead sheet form. Four of the Psalms were adapted by Michael Halm of Presentation Ministries; the other two, by Shirley Starke. Each piece contains a Psalm of sorrow and supplication followed by a Psalm of joy, and the music is especially appropriate for Easter.

 

  • Psalm 42 and Psalm 30, adapted by Shirley Starke

(The two settings of Psalm 30 are very different from each other.)

 

Two Marian Songs

Two songs in honor of the Blessed Mother, written for harp and voice: Ave Maria (Lourdes Hymn) and Hail Holy Queen, in a new musical setting with the words "O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!" as a refrain after each verse. Each is a separate piece of sheet music, 4 pages, 8½" x 11", printed in black on ivory paper. The Lourdes Hymn is also available as an instrumental piece as part of our Old Hymns Medley. If you order this set, you may get a third Marian song, All In White She Came, for an additional $2.50.

 

Four Celtic Lullabies

Four beautiful lullabies: the Welsh traditional "Suo Gan" and "All Through the Night," the Irish "Gartan Mother's Lullaby" with words by Joseph Campbell, and the haunting "Lullaby" from Voices of the Trees, arranged for harp and voice. Each lullaby is a separate piece of sheet music, with a harp arrangement that includes broken chords and arpeggios, the harp interweaving sweetly with the melodies. Level: Easy to intermediate.

 

Three Songs by W. B. Yeats

Three poems by William Butler Yeats, set to music and arranged for harp and voice. The songs are:

 

  • Down by the Salley Gardens, set by Yeats himself to the traditional melody "The Maids of Mourne Shore."
  • Into the Twilight, set by Shirley Starke to music in the Aeolian mode (minor scale).
  • The Pity of Love, set by Shirley Starke to a melody in the Mixolydian mode (the 7th note of the scale is dropped a half step) which has the feel of traditional Irish music.

 

Each of the three pieces is 4 pages, 8½” x 11". The music is printed in black on ivory paper and includes words, melody, chord symbols, and arrangement for the harp. It was written for the lever harp but may be played on the pedal harp as well. Level: easy to intermediate.
