Christmas Carols, Single Pieces

Coventry Carol

"Lullay, thou little tiny child. Bye bye, Lully, Lullay."

This medieval English carol is a lullaby to the children of Bethlehem who were slaughtered by King Herod in his attempt to kill the newborn King. It was traditionally sung on the Feast of the Holy Innocents, December 28, but now is sung throughout the Christmas season. The song is presented here in an arrangement for the lever harp and voice which provides a beautiful counterpoint to the simplicity of the melody. It is cleverly arranged to require only one lever change: in the last paragraph of the song. The sheet music is 4 pages, 8 ½" x 11", printed in black on ivory paper, and includes words (4 verses), melody for voice, chord symbols, arrangement for the harp, and a lovely illustration by Celtic artist Elly Fithian. $3.00.
