Medley: Salve Regina (Hail Holy Queen); Were You There?
Sheet Music; Harp Solo
“Hail Holy Queen
enthroned above, O Maria!”
“Were you there when
they crucified my Lord?”
A very moving medley of
Melchior Ludwig Herold’s 18th-century setting of the ancient
prayer by Aimar of La Puy and the American Negro spiritual first published
in “Old Plantation Hymns,” Boston, 1899. The two songs together evoke an
image of Mary at the foot of the Cross.
This medley may be added to
our Old Hymns Medley between “How Great Thou Art” and “Fairest Lord Jesus,”
played alone, or followed by “Fairest Lord Jesus,” which is also available
as a single piece. All are in the key of D (except the first pieces of the
Old Hymns Medley), and these two medleys can be combined in many ways to
provide a suitable prelude or Communion music for a variety of Christian
occasions.
4 pages (all music), printed
on ivory paper; includes the solo for lever or pedal harp and chord
symbols; in the key of D with no accidentals. Lower intermediate. $3.50.
