The Gartan Mother’s
Lullaby
Sheet music for harp and voice
“Sleep, O babe, for the
red bee hums the silent twilight's fall.
Aoibheall from the grey rock comes, to wrap the world in thrall...”
A beautiful old lullaby with
lyrics by Joseph Campbell and a traditional melody collected in Donegal by
Herbert Hughes, arranged for lever harp and voice. It is in the key of C;
its one B-flat chord is played by flatting the lowest B string on the harp
before beginning to play. The sheet music is 4 pages, printed on ivory
paper, and includes words (3 verses), melody, chords, and arrangement for
the harp. Level: lower to middle intermediate. $3.00.

Mother’s Lullaby,” to hear a verse of this music in mp3 form, as sung by
Colleen Harris on her CD, Celtic Grace. The wordless vocals at the beginning
(lovely!) were added to this arrangement by the singer.
